“LIVING KETO”

To say “Going Keto” was my lifeline is perhaps an understatement.  I would say it saved me and gave me my life back. It restored homeostasis to my body and gave me health and vitality.  I was in survival mode–just existing. I was always hoping to lose weight so that I would be happy. Something miraculous happened.

My sister always told me that working at The Whole Wheatery saved my life.  She had breast cancer. I do not. Most of the women in my family have had breast cancer.   But I started biohacking even before I knew that was a term. Being overweight from a young age is very catalytic.  Biohacking is “changing the environment in you and around you” through the activity of exploiting genetic material experimentally without regard to accepted standards.  I was always looking for the “why” and using nutrients to boost my immune system. I took sugar and wheat out of my diet and went on a low-carb diet. Working at a natural food store gave me lots of opportunities to explore my desire to lose weight, be healthy and happy.  Books were always my friend and they became a place of empowerment and so I read everything I could on the subjects of low-carb diets for health. I attended lectures, conferences and explored the health world. I experimented with supplements and noticed when they worked and I felt better, which improved my health, my thinking and ability to learn. 

 We are all an individual power and can use knowledge to empower ourselves and upgrade our vitality and nervous system.  It turns out it isn’t just our bodies we need to upgrade, but our whole body system, with our brain as the chemist. Therefore, happiness and joy needs to be cultivated because what your brain perceives  through the pictures you give it either enhances growth and health or closes down growth because we are in a protective, perceived or stressful environment. Those environmental signals turns into genetic activity. What we do in our environment and the food we eat is all information to our cells which the organs in our body use to operate.  Food is Information–cellular programming. The nervous system reads the environment. What you see is translated into chemistry in the brain. A good high-fat keto diet keeps your brain healthy. “Living Keto” is practicing Epigenetics, which is the modification of gene expression. Basically, it is the expression of genes through the environment around you and what you eat.  It is even who you interact with, how you sleep and exercise that affects aging and longevity. We are the master of the blueprint of our genes and we are very powerfully in control of our own health. “Living Keto” is programming your cells to be healthy–body and mind. “Living Keto” is turning off disease through gene expression. “Cancer is not genetic,” as quoted from Bruce Lipton, PhD, Biologist, “99% of cancer is environmental (your environment and the food you eat) and 1% is genetic”.  He states it is not a genetic disease. Dr. Joel Wallach, pathologist and naturopathic doctor, discovered in 1978 that cystic fibrosis is a selenium deficiency while working with Rhesus monkeys (not a genetic disease). Dr. Gerhard N. Schwarzer, a renowned selenium researcher, has known that Keshan disease is a selenium deficiency that causes children in China to die because of the lack of selenium in the soil. He is known internationally for his work in the cancer protective properties of selenium and that Cardiomyopathy has a causation factor of selenium deficiency.  The health of our thyroid also benefits from selenium. Our bodies and brains are biologically programmed to function in a healthy state. It’s the information from the environment and the food we eat changed into chemistry that tells the body what to do. “Living Keto” is the best way to absorb more nutrients and minimize disease creating health for your body and brain–living with vitality.  

What is keto? “Going Keto” is following a low-carb ketogenic diet where you go from a glucose (sugar) burner to a fat burner.  This is part of our human adaptogenic survival mechanism. It is also called an ancestry diet. Our Paleolithic ancestors would have cycled in and out of ketosis with the seasons depending on food availability.  It is the natural human state. This is called glucogenesis (Check out a quick video by Dr. Berg on glucogenesis). Less food was available during winter and more was available during summer when our paleolithic ancestors would eat a higher amount of carbohydrates. They didn’t eat 3 meals a day.  They didn’t eat cereal grains, sugar or industrial seed oils. This kept the body in a healthy state. A Keto diet It is a sugar-free, grain-free diet that is high-fat, moderate protein and lots of vegetables. There are many benefits to being on a Keto diet. Many doctors are reversing diabetes and disease through a low-carb lifestyle.  Dr. Mark Hyman of the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio; Dr. Zach Bush, a triple-board certified physician and endocrinologist in Virginia; and Dr. Jason Fung, a Nephrologist and weight loss specialist on intermittent fasting in Canada. They are helping their patients to be disease-free through diet and lifestyle factors. Dr. Daniel Amen is a psychiatrist focusing on reversing dementia and alzheimers through diet and lifestyle and using brain imaging for the diagnosis with amazing results.  It’s admirable and exciting. It is happening now. It happened to me.

    What is a “Living Keto”?  Do you always feel hungry?  Are your food cravings always present and overwhelming?  Do you feel foggy with a lack of focus and no energy–always tired?  I did. Do you wish you could accomplish more in life? Be happy? Do more in life than just exist?  “Living Keto” turns off hunger, cuts off food cravings and cuts through that brain fog. Why is that?  Because it lowers insulin in the body and brain. You are no longer creating too much insulin in the body and being in an insulin-resistant state.  The body and brain become more efficient at burning fat for fuel–creating energy. Therefore, now you have energy that works and a brain that can think, recall and be happy.  These are my results. 

    Brain fog, depression, stress and anxiety.  I had them all. I was fat and miserable–just existing.  After searching and reading and looking for what I needed to heal, that miracle happened for me.  I found the ketogenic diet. I was lucky to attend a Bulletproof conference in Pasadena in 2016. It was information I needed to get to the next step in my life–changing my lifestyle yet again.  I met a scientist after one of the lectures he spoke at. He had had brain cancer and was told he would die. Ten years later he was alive and giving a lecture at the bulletproof conference. He talked about body composition types and the food we eat.  He was spot on when he spoke to me, “Don’t eat any fruit.” I was following the paleo diet and munching on dried goji berries with my trail mix. I couldn’t lose weight. I was lethargic and unhappy. Fruit was still too much sugar for my insulin-resistant body.  Now I had more information to take in and assimilate and apply to my health. I changed my diet that day. I threw away the fruit and started Bulletproof coffee and a keto diet. I lost 20 pounds. I found a new passion in me to be better than I was.

    I have been “Living Keto” now for four years.  It was just in time. I discovered melanoma on my neck and had it surgically removed.  I am “Living Keto” to be healthy and cancer free. I am 56 with no health issues. I have turned my brain back on and recovered my health and vitality.  My skin is radiant, my hair is thicker and I am no longer creaky or have degenerating knees. I am happy and have moments of joy that surprise me. I have started a new career as a Certified Functional Health Coach and plan on being a Holistic Practitioner.  I am even more passionate about sharing this information with others and helping them find their health. Aging successfully and being vibrant is our birthright. We all want peace and harmony within ourselves and in our world. Individual power is all about empowering yourself and connecting into the universe of the evolution of human consciousness–our global nervous system.  We need a scientific revision of our world–the “Bulletproof Diet” provides us with that and the knowledge to empower ourselves. 

I am grateful everyday that I have this information to fight disease in my environment and to have discovered a new vision for myself.  I am grateful everyday that I have the “Bulletproof Diet” to give me energy, focus and a working brain.
